From Anxiety to Awareness: How Growth Revealed My Purpose

Many years ago, I silently battled anxiety and depression. I didn’t yet understand my gifts or my identity, and because of that, I allowed the emotional and mental states of others to influence my peace. Looking back, this journey has been one of the greatest revelations of my life.

I now recognize that many of the mistakes I made were rooted in a simple truth: You cannot make wise choices without self-awareness.

When you don’t know who you truly are, you unintentionally open the door for the wrong people to shape your emotions, your decisions, and even your destiny.

The Power of Choosing the Right People

I’ve learned that the quality of your associations—professionally, spiritually, and personally—matters. Not everyone is meant to walk with you. Not everyone has the emotional maturity, integrity, or spiritual grounding to grow with you.

Over the years, I walked through seasons that felt like hell. But on the other side, I discovered clarity: what I want, what I need, and what aligns with my purpose.

Clarity Comes Through Trials

It is not the absence of trials that strengthens you— it is the growth that happens because of them.

Pressure reveals your purpose. Pain sharpens your discernment. And challenges bring wisdom that comfort never could.

Growth Makes Some People Uncomfortable

Growing and evolving did not change others—it changed me. And sometimes, your growth becomes a mirror for others. It may make them uncomfortable, insecure, or even distant.

Not because you have done anything wrong, but because your elevation highlights where they’ve refused to grow.

The Gift of Self-Removal

I finally learned something freeing: When your growth makes others uncomfortable, it is okay to remove yourself.

I no longer shrink to make others feel safe. I no longer dim my light to ease someone else’s insecurity. I no longer remain in rooms my spirit has outgrown.

Because when you step out of misaligned spaces, the right people—those who recognize your value and match your growth—will always find you.

And they will walk with you, not against you.
