Choosing Growth Over Comfort: A Call to Rise, Prosper, and Lead with Courage
Coming back to Nashville after seasons of travel, reflection, and transformation, I’ve realized something vital: growth reveals truth — in yourself and in others.
Some people want you to stay the same because your growth makes them uncomfortable. Your evolution challenges their comfort zones. But I will never apologize for growth.
If others prefer to live in an illusion of safety, that’s their choice. I choose me. I choose to evolve, prosper, and walk in the fullness of God’s purpose. Because there is more to life than what we grew up knowing in our hometowns.
When God Calls You Higher
When God transforms your mind and renews your spirit, you can no longer fit into the places that once confined you. Growth changes your vision, your relationships, and your habits.
And if what you once did no longer brings abundance — peace, provision, or purpose — then it’s time to walk away from what’s not beneficial.
Because God calls us to prosper.
3 John 1:2 (KJV):
“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”
True prosperity isn’t just money — it’s wholeness. But with growth comes divine alignment, and alignment brings financial and spiritual gain.
When you walk in purpose, provision follows.
Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIV):
“But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.”
Joshua 1:8 (NIV):
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
Psalm 1:3 (NIV):
“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.”
Prosperity is not luck — it’s the natural fruit of obedience, wisdom, and growth.
Racism, Fear, and the Intolerance of Intelligence
Racism often exposes those who despise intelligence — because intelligent people cannot be controlled. Their independence threatens systems built on manipulation and silence.
But suppression is not leadership. It’s cowardice.
True leaders are not intimidated by wisdom — they nurture it. As Proverbs 29:2 reminds us:
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked rule, the people mourn.”
When we walk in knowledge and truth, ignorance loses its grip.
The Science Behind Prosperity and Growth
Research supports what Scripture has always said — we are wired for expansion.
-
Psychologist Carol Dweck (2006) discovered that people with a growth mindset achieve greater success, creativity, and financial stability.
-
Dr. Carol Ryff’s (1989) framework for well-being** identifies personal growth and purpose in life as central to human flourishing.
-
Neuroplasticity studies show that the more we learn, adapt, and challenge our thinking, the more our brains — and our lives — expand (Kolb & Gibb, Nature Reviews Neuroscience, 2011).
In short: when your mindset grows, so does your capacity for abundance.
Returning Home, but Never Shrinking Back
There’s more to life than what we learned growing up. The world is vast — full of opportunity, knowledge, and divine possibility. Some will reject your growth because it confronts their complacency, but that’s not your burden to carry.
Growth will expose envy, ignorance, and fear — but it also reveals favor.
When God promotes you, not everyone will understand it. That’s okay. Keep rising.
Final Reflection
Life isn’t black or white — it’s right and wrong. And it’s wrong to dim your light just to make others comfortable.
As you grow, prosper, and mature, some people will fall away — not because you changed, but because you evolved. And evolution requires elevation.
So keep walking. Keep growing. Keep prospering.
You are not being arrogant — you are being obedient to destiny.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV):
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
