“From Mistakes to Mastery: How Life Lessons Built My Authority as a Professional Development & Gift of Discernment Coach”

People Don’t Buy Services—They Buy Into People

In creating classes, consulting with organizations, and helping others cultivate their gifts and grow professionally, I’ve learned something essential: people don’t really buy services—they buy into people.

Degrees, certifications, and polished presentations have their place, but what truly connects is humanity. People want to know who you are, what you’ve walked through, and whether your story carries the weight of real experience—not just theory.

The Power of Imperfection

Lord knows I have fallen, made mistakes, and failed more times than I can count. There were seasons where my life did not look polished, put together, or “brand ready.” But over time I realized something powerful:

“Just because you mess up, does not mean you cannot bounce back.”

My failures did not disqualify me—they trained me. Every setback became part of the foundation I now stand on when I teach, coach, or consult. When I share honestly about my struggles, people don’t see perfection. They see possibility.

Story as a Bridge, Not a Mask

Writing and sharing my life—the battles, the doubts, the emotional and spiritual warfare—does more than fill pages or content calendars. It personalizes my authority.

I don’t stand before people as someone who “has it all figured out.” I stand as someone who has:

  • Fallen, but gotten back up

  • Been broken, but chose to heal

  • Been misunderstood, but kept walking

  • Faced obstacles, but refused to quit

When I’m honest about my journey, others can see themselves in my story. Being “naked” about what I’ve faced and overcome opens a door for them to believe they can overcome too. My scars become a map, not a mask.

From Dysfunction to Testimony

Some might look at my path and call it dysfunctional—too many twists, disappointments, and unexpected turns. I see it differently.

To me, it’s all testimony. A story full of:

  • Mistakes that taught humility

  • Obstacles that strengthened character

  • Losses that deepened compassion

  • Delays that prepared me for greater responsibility

These lessons didn’t just come from classrooms, hospital rooms, or church walls. They came from life itself—real, raw, unfiltered life. The kind of learning no textbook can truly capture.

Diversity as My Greatest Teacher

One of my greatest teachers has been diversity—of people, cultures, faiths, and experiences. Being exposed to different ways of thinking, living, and believing has expanded my heart and mind.

Diversity has taught me:

  • To listen before I judge

  • To understand before I label

  • To see the human being before the title or role

  • To respect that everyone is carrying a story

To truly understand other humans is, I believe, what life is really about. When you grasp that, your work—whether it’s consulting, coaching, ministry, healthcare, or education—takes on a deeper purpose. You’re no longer just “delivering a service.” You’re connecting with souls.

Why I Teach, Consult, and Write

I don’t teach or consult from a place of perfection. I do it from a place of survival, faith, and growth. My message to those I serve is simple:

  • You are not your worst mistake.

  • You are not disqualified by your past.

  • You can heal, rebuild, and rise again.

If my journey—messy as it has been at times—can light the way for someone else, then every tear, detour, and disappointment has been worth it.

People don’t just need strategies; they need stories. They don’t just need information; they need inspiration.

And if my life can be both a cautionary tale and a testimony of redemption, then I am walking in my purpose.

Philosophy to Live By:

“Just because you mess up, does not mean you cannot bounce back.”

As long as you are breathing, your story is still being written. And someone out there is waiting for the healed, wiser version of you to show up and lead, teach, and serve.

Be encouraged. Be authentic. Be resilient. The world doesn’t just need your services—it needs you.
